Our Place Now Open!

Our Place is the new project funded by the Big Lottery to help residents in Derwent to apply for jobs, learn new skills and reduce social isolation. The project opened on the 7th April 2015. With the exception of the lunch club and refreshments, there will not be any additional costs for those attending sessions. These include a Job Club, Senior's IT Club & Activities, and activities for young people. See more details.

News from the Big Lottery

Revive Healthy Living has been allocated 428,271 to support disadvantaged residents of Derwent through a new project, Our Place, which has been developed out of its existing Pantry project. Working from the Revive Centre, they will now offer a supervised daily job club providing IT facilities, coaching and assistance for job seekers whilst also providing internet and IT support for older people and a place for younger residents to do their school and college work.

Residents who are reliant on food banks and vouchers will be encouraged to learn to cook and grow their own food using the gardens, new potting shed and greenhouse. Community ambassadors will be recruited locally to support others in gaining new skills including how to run a community project. It is hoped that the ambassadors will eventually become trustees of Revive and form a succession pool to take the charity forward. Overall around 700 local people will benefit from the activity including the aim to revive community spirit by encouraging volunteering within the community.

Revive’s Pantry Appeal

June 2012 saw the launch of Revive’s Pantry Appeal, which aims to prevent surplus new, branded household goods from going to waste sites by offering them to local homes instead.

Working with the national Inkind Charity and Derby businesses, Revive’s Pantry Appeal has been set up to re-direct good quality surplus or discontinued stock from businesses to families, carers and mums-to-be in Derwent who need a little extra help from time to time.

The Appeal has secured a wide variety of new, branded children’s equipment and household items from the Inkind Charity – everything from washing detergent to duvet covers, children’s books to toddlers’ toys.

The items are available to Derwent residents who are in receipt of key state benefits.  Residents can access the services by picking up a form from the Revive Centre and making an appointment.

As part of its fund-raising activities, Revive would like to work with local businesses that can either donate funds or items to the Pantry Appeal that can be distributed into the community.
