The Charity

The Revive Healthy Living Centre is owned by the Revive Healthy Living Charity.  Day to day management is the responsibility of Revive Management Services Ltd, which is a wholly owned trading subsidiary of the Charity. The management of Revive Healthy Living is the responsibility of a resident board of unpaid trustees.  As a commercial enterprise, Revive Management Services Ltd has its own board of directors, policies and procedures.

The two-tier structure enables trustees to use any surplus income (after running costs) to support activities that will directly benefit residents living in the Derwent, Chaddesden, Oakwood or Spondon.

The Household Service

Revive’s household service supports struggling households by distributing free, non-perishable goods (such cleaning products, washing powder/detergent and toiletries) to those whose budgets are stretched due to the increases in the cost of living including and escalating fuel/food costs. Those that access the service, make considerable savings by not having to purchase these expensive products.

To qualify, you need to be:

  • A member of Revives Job Club (and regularly attending for a fixed period of time) or
  • A Household/individual where at least one person is in employment for 16 hours or more and in receipt of the minimum wage
  • A pensioner in receipt of the basic state pension (not pension credit)

Secondly it’s only available to households, or individuals, who can demonstrate that they live in Chaddesden, Oakwood or Spondon and are experiencing financial hardship (each is considered on a case by case basis).

Residents can obtain further information/apply by emailing Martin Rawson at reviveaid@revivecentre.com with their name, address and contact number and mention ‘Household Support Service’.

The stock is sourced from a variety of businesses as well as the Inkind Charity. So the project relies on local traders and organisations to donate unwanted stock and raise for funds for the initiative. Any organisation that can therefore help to sustain or develop the Pantry is asked to contact Revive by phoning 01332 288700 or emailing reviveaid@revivecentre.com

Secret Santa

Revive Aid

In November 2021 Revive launched (and smashed) an ambitious crowdfunding appeal with the target of raising £10,000 to help some of the most disadvantaged people in the city cope with the crippling cost of living crisis.

Due to the problems the Charity was seeing locally with domestic violence, poverty, suicide and ill health it applied to the National Emergencies Trust for support, and Revive’s efforts were given an additional boost with every donation (of £250 and under) pledged before December 17th  2021 being matched by the National Emergencies Trust local action fund; this reflected the severity of the situation and Revive was extremely grateful for their support.

Revive centre manager Jo Andrew explains: “Many of the local people in Derwent, Chaddesden, Oakwood and Spondon that we support are at crisis point. Reaching our target will enable us to support people that are really struggling by allowing us to top up pre-paid energy meters (most people in our area have these and they have the highest charges), arrange fresh food parcels (that are vital for those living with cancer or facing chemotherapy) and provide vouchers for those with dietary requirements.

We genuinely believe that we have very vulnerable people in total crisis and that can’t afford to eat or heat their homes, we see it on a daily basis. We have pensioners ill with cancer, children living with lifelong illnesses, people receiving treatment for cancer, or waiting for vital test results,  and expected to survive on SSP.  They have been hugely affected by the increases in cost of living and the energy crisis. We don’t want to be in a position where we have to say no to anyone in this position, and have to live with the consequences.

We need to do something before the situation gets worse and are therefore creating a general fund that we can use to support people facing tragic personal circumstances – but can only do that with the help of local individuals, businesses and organisations.”
