Revive Aid June/July 2022 Update

We’d like to thank everyone that has donated recently to the crowdfund. Thanks to you, we now have the funds to take some of our most disadvantaged children on holiday to Butlins – and cover the cost of their meals.

We are now turning our attention back to the cost of living crisis. It is widely reported that the energy cap will increase by 65% in October 22.  This will increase the average yearly gas/electricity bill from £1,971 to £3,200. Even with government help of an extra £1,200 for those receiving means tested benefits, this is completely unaffordable for most people, especially pensioners who receive a yearly state pension of £8,888, Universal benefit claimants under 25  that are entitled to £3,184 PA, or  £4,019 if they are over 25.  Many of those that are sick, or receiving treatment for cancer, can only claim £99.35 a week, for 26 weeks. If the planned increase therefore goes ahead, we fear there will be more hunger, ill health, hospital admissions and deaths.

On the 20th July, the BBC are placing a spot light on the cost of living crisis in Derby. Revive will be taking part and sharing how the cost of living crisis is affecting people. If you can help in any way, please donate on this page or contact us at reviveaid@revivecentre.com
